What is a Birth Center?
A health care facility where childbirth and other health services are provided.
The birth center is based in the community and is not a hospital. It is a connected piece of the local health care system.
Care is provided by midwives and promotes wellness, prevention, safety, appropriate medical intervention and cost-effectiveness.
The birth center supports natural and physiologic birth.
The birth center supports lactation and human milk for human babies.
Respectful education and support of clients and their families are essential components of the care provided at the birth center.
Clients’ rights to make informed choices about their health care and their baby’s health care are honored at the birth center.
Our Community Birth Center provides inclusive care and does not discriminate on the basis of ability/disability, race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, language, ethnicity, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, veteran’s status, or any other protected class.
