In Memory of Dennis Carr (2/17/1952 – 8/8/2020)

In fall of 2019, we asked Dennis Carr to join the Board of Directors of Our Community Birth Center. Dennis shared that he was starting treatment for cancer, and despite that, he committed to the Board because he said “The birth center is very important for our community.” Not only was Dennis a recent supporter of Our Community Birth Center, Dennis and his wife Michele Peters-Carr CNM have been dedicated birth center advocates for many years, which many of our supporters know, since they had Michele as their midwife.

Dennis worked as Chief Human Resources Officer at Lane Community College and we were incredibly fortunate to have his guidance early on in the establishment of Our Community Birth Center. Dennis was the advisor and supporter behind our earliest, and very successful, events including our Press Conference and Campaign Launch Event, and a $3,000 matching donation challenge by Dennis and Michele last December.

We are honored to have had Dennis as a member of our Founding Board of Directors and we are deeply saddened to have lost such a wonderful person and a vibrant and dedicated member of our community.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Dennis’s wife Michele Peters-Carr; daughters Amelia Carr and Meghan Steele; grandson Jack Steele, and other family and friends.
