Our Community Birth Center’s Board of Directors would like to share our official land acknowledgement statement. October 12, 2020 was Indigenous Peoples’ Day and we will continue to reflect on the on-going negative impacts of colonialism, share accurate history, and take actions toward justice.

“We meet on the unceded land stolen from the Kalapuya, Siuslaw, Cow Creek Umpqua and Yoncalla peoples. I ask you to join me in acknowledging these communities, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations. I ask that we also acknowledge that our culture was founded upon exclusions and erasures of many indigenous peoples, including those on whose land our Birth Center will be located. This acknowledgement is to demonstrate a commitment to beginning the process of working to dismantle the ongoing legacies of settler colonialism.”
